You haven’t heard from me in a while, but that’s because I moved away (and this is really Adam’s effing blog anyway). Since I left Loretta’s basement about a month ago, I have traveled the better part of the west coast. I drove to Mountain View, CA (south bay) on a Sunday only to leave for Lake Shasta, which is about halfway between PDX and Mountain View, the very next day. I drove 6 high schoolers to the lake and spent time with them, leading music, for 5 days. That was my first act as resident music / youth guy at the Highway Community.
From there, I left a day before the camp was over in order to drive with my boss to Sacramento (or as my father calls it, Excremento) to stay the night in a Holiday Inn Express before flying to LA the next morning. Saturday I meet my sister and fiance at the airport in Sacramento, fly south and spend about 16 hours there for the purpose of my grandmother’s 80th birthday. The next morning, Sunday, we all drove back to Mountain View and fell asleep.
The next morning, Vacation Bible School started at our MV campus. It’s a morning long day camp that lasts a week for 2-9 year olds. It almost killed me, but I’m ok now. Carting around 5 adorable little children around Avalanche Ranch for a week was a bit much after the lake trip. And now it’s getting back to normal, except for the fact that I no longer live in the place that I know and love, Portland OR.
But I didn’t just come to complain, because that wasn’t really complaining. That actually happened. I’m just telling you about it.
I came to tell you to see the movie Live Free or Die Hard. For lack of a better term, the latest installment of action-packed thrillers characterized by Bruce Willis having the hell beaten out of him for their entire duration, is the most bad-ass thing you’ve ever seen in your LIFE. Not only does it have a great storyline, but it features Justin Long of the fantastic ‘Mac / PC’ commercials. So please, I’m not terribly easily amused, but this was awesome. No film this year has made me want to work on a car this badly.
So why is there a picture from Everybody Loves Raymond at the top of the post? “I don’t know why that’s there, that’s just a good show. I just tape it sometimes…” (that’s from the 40 Year Old Virgin, which you should also watch). Evening, friends. I miss those of you I know, but really, I just miss Adam.
The basement is empty, just like me (Billy Corgan). I can’t wait to see Bruce Willis drive a car into a helicopter. That’s crazy – my grandma just had her 90th birthday.
great post…i never really hung out much with you, but for some reason it bugs me that you don’t live in the basement anymore…
